The Slate Industry of North Wales is to be the next UK nomination for World Heritage Status. The government can put forward one project per year to be considered for Unesco World Heritage Status and on 23rd October, heritage minister Michael Ellis announced that it would be Gwynedd’s slate landscape. This is very exciting news for all those involved in the Slate Industry WHS bid and we are very proud to have supported their work (in our previous roles at TBR) in delivering an assessment of the current and potential impact of heritage-led regeneration associated with WHS inscription. We’d like to wish all the team at Llechi Cymru, Gwynedd Council, CADW, the National Slate Museum and all other stakeholders the best of luck with the nomination.
We're delighted to see UNESCO have added the Lake District to their World Heritage List! The success of the Lakes World Heritage project is the culmination of a huge amount of work by a large number of people. We're proud to have been associated with one of the key reports in the evidence base, World Heritage Status – is there an opportunity for economic gain?
