Evaluation of the Excellence in Education Programme on behalf of North East Mayoral Strategic Authority

Thank you for agreeing to take part in this research.

This page contains information relevant to this research project that has to be made available to you in order to comply with data protection legislation (Privacy Information Notice).

About this research

Ortus Economic Research has been appointed by North East Mayoral Strategic Authority to undertake an evaluation study of the Excellence in Education Programme. This programme funds schools across the North East to take part in a range of school improvement projects. The evaluation has two objectives: to develop a measurement framework to support assessment of the impact of school improvement projects in the North East, and; to gather evidence of ‘early signs of promise’ arising from the projects funded in the 2025/26 academic year.

The data controller for this research project is the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority– see Contact below. The data controller ‘determines the purposes and means of processing personal data’. The legal basis for this research is ‘public task’ – the processing is necessary for Generator to perform a task in the public interest or for its official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law.

Taking part in this research is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw from the research at any time – see Your rights below.

How your data will be used

Your survey response will be seen only by Ortus Economic Research, and it will be anonymous (unless you agree to take part in further research, in which case contact details will be gathered – see below).

The North East Mayoral Strategic Authority will not be provided with the survey data. They will be provided with an aggregated analysis of the survey data that does not allow schools to be identified, either directly or indirectly (e.g. through the nature of the data provided). Delivery partners will also not be provided with the survey data but may be given an aggregated analysis of responses related to their projects.

The only exception to this is where you have volunteered to identify yourself. The survey seeks volunteers for short follow-up discussions an/or evidence sharing and asks anyone wishing to volunteer to provide a name, email address and ‘phone number for follow-up contact. Otherwise, your response is anonymous.
