Design Economy work platformed at Atlanta Design Festival

Over recent years we have built up a close working relationship with the Atlanta Design Festival and have been honoured to have contributed on three occasions. One of the many disappointments of 2020 has been the postponement of the Festival.  But Festival organisers MA! are nothing if not adaptive and innovative.  Instead of holding a physical festival this year, they converted the Festival to an online event from 12th to 20th September. Ortus ER collaboration wins prestigious Planning Award

One of the most rewarding things that can happen in any job is to receive external acknowledgement of the quality and impact of your work.  So we were delighted to have recently discovered that a project we had collaborated on has won a prestigious Planning Award.  Specifically, the MK2050 Milton Keynes Strategic Growth Study won the Plan-Making category at the 2020 Planning Awards. Our role was to provide economic insight and to develop future economic scenarios so we could then outline what growth might look like over the next three decades. North Wales Slate Industry to be WHS nominee

The Slate Industry of North Wales is to be the next UK nomination for World Heritage Status.  The government can put forward one project per year to be considered for Unesco World Heritage Status and on 23rd October, heritage minister Michael Ellis announced that it would be Gwynedd’s slate landscape. This is very exciting news for all those involved in the Slate Industry WHS bid and we are very proud to have supported their work (in our previous roles at TBR) in delivering an assessment of the current and potential impact of heritage-led regeneration associated with WHS inscription. We’d like to wish all the team at Llechi Cymru, Gwynedd Council, CADW, the National Slate Museum and all other stakeholders the best of luck with the nomination.

Women Count 2017

The Pipeline have published Women Count 2017 the latest of their series of reports on the number of women on the Executive Committees of the UK’s FTSE 350 companies, and the resulting economic impact.  We're proud to have been responsible for analysis and report writing. The Pipeline delivers executive leadership programmes specifically designed for women. Research shows that organisations do better and are more able to succeed in our globalised world when they have greater gender diversity at the most senior levels. Women Count 2017 was picked up by BBC Radio 4's Today programme, and the Financial Times (paywall).

Lake District World Heritage Site
