North Wales Slate Industry to be WHS nominee

The Slate Industry of North Wales is to be the next UK nomination for World Heritage Status.  The government can put forward one project per year to be considered for Unesco World Heritage Status and on 23rd October, heritage minister Michael Ellis announced that it would be Gwynedd’s slate landscape.

This is very exciting news for all those involved in the Slate Industry WHS bid and we are very proud to have supported their work (in our previous roles at TBR) in delivering an assessment of the current and potential impact of heritage-led regeneration associated with WHS inscription.

We’d like to wish all the team at Llechi Cymru, Gwynedd Council, CADW, the National Slate Museum and all other stakeholders the best of luck with the nomination.
